    In 1992, God called Hal and his family to Oceanside, California to plant New Song Community Church. For the past 21+ years, Hal has served as the Lead Pastor, teaching, shepherding, and leading New Song’s staff and congregation. Hal’s educational background includes a Master’s of Divinity from Denver Seminary in Denver, Colorado and a Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.

    Susan joined New Song in 1998 and began volunteering in PromiseLand, our children's ministry, that same year. She has served in rooms from birth through 5th grade. Susan joined our staff in 2001 as a room leader in preschool and later went on to elementary where she led our Scream Team and large group environment. In 2016, Susan became our PromiseLand Director.

    Keith, his wife Jen, and their four children moved from Dallas, TX in 2012 to join the New Song Pastoral Staff. Keith is originally from Louisiana. He has had the opportunity to serve several different large ministries around the country. He is committed to helping unchurched people become fully devoted followers of Christ. Keith holds a Masters of Divinity from Christian Leadership University.

    Wes and his family joined New Song in 2012, after moving to Oceanside from Philadelphia, PA. In September 2013, Wes, his family, and his launch team pioneered New Song’s multi-site launch process and planted our Seaside location at the Regal Cinemas Oceanside. Wes has a masters in Organizational Leadership from Carin University.

    Joe, his wife, and his four boys moved to Oceanside in January 2015 to serve as the lead pastor of New Song Carlsbad. Joe is dedicated to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who don't know him yet. He enjoys surfing on a regular basis and is searching for the best breakfast burrito in San Diego county. Joe has been a pastor for over 20 years and received his Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2004.

    Carol and her family started coming to New Song in 2001. She started as the New Song bookkeeper in 2003 and became CFO in 2012. She has over 30 years' experience in accounting, specializing in non-profit work. She became a Christian in 1978, during the Jesus Movement and has been involved in ministry work since.

    Cyrus and his three children live and play in Oceanside. Cyrus has been with the NS family a total of 6 years, since 2011 taking on the role of Facilities director as well as being blessed to lead NDM outreach.

    Heather has been on staff with New Song since 2010, where she served as the High School Resident, programming services and spending time with students full time. In May 2015, she and her husband, Andy, joined the church planting force, and she became the Worship Leader for our Carlsbad Campus.

    Mark joined New Song in1999 and is currently the Pastor of Pastoral Care overseeing shepherding through prayer, hospital visits, celebrations of life, baptism, marriage, and counseling. Mark currently serves on the Leadership Board and was the Leadership Board Chairman from 2004 until 2011. In 2005 he was licensed as a Pastor. Mark is a retired Marine and currently works as a Civil Servant for the Navy & Marine Corps. Mark and his wife Carol reside in Oceanside, Ca.

    A native of Greensboro, NC, Almena and her husband, Ollis, have been at New Song since August 2006. She became director of our Women’s Ministries last year and is passionate about helping women to find healing in Christ and to align their life passions with their purpose to accomplish their dreams. She is happily married to Ollis Mozon, retired Navy chaplain, currently serving with Dynamic Church Planting International, with two children, Orin and Maya, who both serve in worship ministries.

    Munyoki was born in Kenya but lived in Pennsylvania for 20 years before joining New Song in 2016. He received his degree from Toccoa Falls College in Georgia and enjoys discovering amazing food from around the world, as well as music and active sports.

Anderson and Parishe's Story

Before Parishe and Anderson Miller started attending New Song, they were “good” people. Back home in Chicago, they went to church most Sundays but had little involvement outside of attending services. As Parishe puts it, there was “no opportunity for growth.” Though Jesus was somewhere in the mix, the Millers’ relationship with him remained stagnant. Church was just a box they checked off their to-do list.

But God had greater plans for the Millers.

When Anderson was stationed in Oceanside, the Millers moved out west with the intent to try a couple churches and see where they fit in. They desired to join a church that could help them “figure this whole thing out,” Parishe says, because “without God, life is pretty crazy.”
