A typical love story begins with the introduction of two characters. Usually it’s a
dashing man and an innocent woman. They meet by chance, and a spark ignites.
They’re drawn to each other. Love smolders, then bursts into flame.
The love stories of Philippians 2 couldn’t be farther from this kind of sensual and
emotional and romantic love. Love story number one is the story of Jesus, loving a people who have never pledged their love to Him. Love story number one is a one-way love. 1 John says that we love
because He first loved us.
It’s a ridiculous love.
